Our Liquid Waste to Energy plants are comprised of a technology that allows us to take a waste source ideal for digestion and turn it into a renewable energy project.

EECOFuels determine the organic loading of different waste sources to establish the energy potential of producing electrical power whilst delivering general standard water. This is achieved by coupling an anaerobic digester technology onto an efficient low maintenance gas generator set to produce electricity consumed by the clients own demand or sold across the grid to a willing buyer.

The analysis of the clients wastewater ranging from black, grey, fat saturated or sugar laden water allows us to understand the output potential of the volatile solids and to propose the correct arrangement of digester to engine combination required to deliver a cost effective and lucrative project with an attractive rate of return. We accomplish this by using ground breaking digester technology along with competitive engine technology from GASTECH.

Advantages of EECO Biogas digestion

  • 24hr Hydraulic pass through (Human waste)
  • No heat, No power, No mixing in the digester
  • Complete digestion of organics – NO ORGANIC SLUDGE, higher BIOGAS YIELD
  • No production of H2S
  • Higher methane content - up to 87% recorded

The unique marine algae suspension feeds and protects the microorganisms which do the work. This enables it to be:

  • Highly-efficient under adverse environmental conditions
  • Self-cleaning
  • Capable of handling high organic and nutrient loads
  • Free from the need for sludge handling.

Advantages of GASTECH Biogas engine

  • Gas engine consumption = 9.8MJ/kwh
  • Low Maintenance costs
  • See GASTECH product range for more information

Higher energy output, as a result of complete digestion, is achieved through the addition of a propriety culture media.
FAQ:

How do you size the digester?
When you are talking about human sewage, this base product has 0.5- 3% dry matter and 600 C? Oxygen Demand (COD) and about 300 Biological Oxygen Demand. This is a small biological loading and the process is usually completed in a 24 hour retention period. When we talk about Biogas feedstocks you have big amounts of organic matter, high COD and BOD, to handle this you must increase the surface area and thereby the number of bacteria/archaea. We can usually do this in 5-7days at ambient temperature whereas other plants do it in 60-120 days at ambient temperature.

What analyses? Do you need to design an AD plant?
We need pH, TS, VS, ODM, ratio between nitrogen and carbon, BOD, COD, Alkalinity and Conductivity, with these elements we'll know exactly what quantity of biogas we can produce and what size the digester must be.

What is a typical analysis of Biogas from the EECO Digester plant?
The digester will produce a minimum of 70% CH₄ with the balance being CO₂ and sometimes some Hydrogen. H₂S is almost entirely eliminated from the equation by biological ion exchange.

What happens in the Bio-Media Filtration tank?
We use a special bio-filter material that is made from Cristobalite, a natural silica stone. We load the bacteria and archaea into this media. 1m³ of Cristobalite provides around 1km² of surface area. 1m³ = 10,000cm³, we load 16 billion bacteria per cm³ and the bacterial culture stays there in the media. All organic material that comes into contact with our bacterial culture will be totally destroyed. The gas and energy is released when the bacterial culture feeds on the waste. The minerals mix with water and the sink to the bottom. We achieve almost total degradation of organic matter; this is possible only in this particular system.
